Malaekahana beach park is located in Laie, on the north side of Oahu. It is more than an hour away from Waikiki. Enjoy the large sandy beach, blue ocean waves and the shaded beach forest.
Malaekahana beach park is located at 41-043 Kalaniana'ole Highway. The camp sites are located through a short while north from Laie town. The camp sites are available for camping from Friday 2 PM to Wednesday Noon. There is a gate to the road that leads to the camp sites. This gate is open at 7 AM and closes at 6:45 PM (winter) or 7:45 PM (summer). The earliest a permit can be reserved is 2 weeks in advance. If you choose to select our services, then we will be sure to reserve the camp site on your behalf. There are two bathroom facilities and outdoor showers available. There are 37 camp sites available, be sure to reserve well in advance because these sites go quick.
- Beach: Malaekahana beach is one of the largest beaches on the north coast of Oahu. It is very easy to get your own patch of sand to enjoy outdoor activities like, football, volleyball or frisbee. You can also go for an early morning jog on what seems like an endless beach.
- Relax: Enjoy one of Oahu's perfect spots for sunrise or lounge around on the beach and get a tan. If you are up to it, then wake up early and you can witness an amazing Oahu sunrise.
- Explore: From this camp site, you can easily explore all North shore has to offer like views from Laie point, the Mormon temple, Kahuku shrimp trucks and much more.
- Night: Take a walk on the beach and enjoy the stars. You might be able to even catch some sand crabs. Or stay at your campsite and start a small campfire and enjoy the company of your camping buddies, while making s'mores and singing songs.
To get to Malaekahana Beach Park from Honolulu, take the H1 to Pali Highway. Travel on Pali Highway north through the tunnels. The road will wind down the mountains, stay to your right and take the Kalanianaole Hwy cut off (located at the Hospital traffic light). Follow Kalanianaole Highway east for approximately 4 miles. The Park entrance will be on your left, or ocean side. There will be a sign for Bellws Air Force Bace and the road will be called Tinker Road. Follow the road through the park. Proceed on this road for 1.5 miles and you will find the camp sites on the right. The camp sites are numbered on the trees, refer to the city and county map for the exact loaction of your camp site or give us a call.
